2007 NESCAC Cross Country Performers of the Week
November 19, 2007
Peter Kosgei, Hamilton
(Sophomore - Kapsabet, Kenya)
Kosgei, the 2007 NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer, placed second
at the 2007 NCAA Men's Cross Country Championship at St. Olaf
College in Minneapolis, Minn. over the weekend. Kosgei finished the
championship course with a time of 24:37.
Alexandra Krieg,
Middlebury
(Junior - Wellesley, Mass.)
Krieg was the top NESCAC finisher at the 2007 NCAA Women's Cross
Country Championship hosted by St. Olaf College in Minneapolis,
Minn. on Saturday. Krieg placed third in the 6-kilometer
championship race with a time of 21:23.

(Sophomore - Kapsabet, Kenya)
Kosgei, the 2007 NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer, finished first
during the NCAA Cross Country Atlantic Regional race held at Van
Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. Kosgei qualified for the NCAA
Cross Country Championships at St. Olaf College this coming weekend
with a time of 24:18 on the 8-kilometer course.
Heather Wilson,
Amherst
(Senior - Danvers, Mass.)
Wilson, the 2007 NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer, paced her squad
at the NCAA Cross Country Atlantic Regional, finishing the
6-kilometer course at Harkness State Park in Waterford, Conn. with
a time of 21:31. Amherst finished the race as the top team.

Aaron Schwartz, Williams
(Freshman - Melville, N.Y.)
Schwartz paced his team to a first-place finish at the ECAC
Championships this past weekend at Mt. Greylock High School, as he
placed fourth with a time of 26:42 on the 8-kilometer course.
Katie Moravec,
Amherst
(Senior - Chico, Calif.)
Moravec finished first at the ECAC Championships at Mt. Greylock
High School on Saturday. Moravec finished the 6-kilometer course
with a winning time of 23:03.

(Sophomore - Kapsabet, Kenya)
Kosgei placed first in his premiere at the NESCAC Men's Cross
Country Championship this year. It was the seventh race that Kosgei
has won this fall, as his time of 25:52 on the 8-kilometer course
was almost 30 seconds faster than the next runner to cross the
finish line.
Heather Wilson,
Amherst
(Senior - Danvers, Mass.)
Wilson finished first at the at the NESCAC Women's Cross Country
Championship with a time of 21:56.67, the second first place
showing in a row for her this year after taking home individual
honors at the Little Three Championship on Oct. 20 at Wesleyan.
Wilson improved upon her 2006 championship performance by over 90
seconds, after placing 11th last fall.

William Yochum, Amherst
(Freshman - Goleta, Calif.)
Yochum placed second at the Little Three Championship race held at
Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. Yochum completed the 8-kilometer
course in 25:58, as the Lord Jeffs placed second at the meet.
Rachel Asher,
Williams
(Junior - Lake Bluff, Ill.)
Aster finished second at the Little Three Championship on Saturday
afternoon at Wesleyan, as she finished the 5-kilometer course in
18:55 and helped the Ephs to a second-place showing.

Edgar Kosgey, Williams
(Sophomore, Eldoret Rift Valley, Kenya)
Kosgey placed first at the Plansky Invitational hosted by Williams
over the weekend. Kosgey completed the 6-kilometer course in 19:10,
as the Ephs finished second at the meet.
Olga Kondratjeva,
Williams
(Sophomore, Vilnius, Lithuania)
Kondratjeva finished first during the fast-paced 4-kilometer race
at the Plansky Invitational at Williams over the weekend.
Kondratjeva finished the race with a time of 14:52.

Keith Drake, Connecticut College
(Senior - Lebanon, N.H.)
Drake placed 13th at the New England Championships on Saturday at
Franklin Park in Boston, Mass., the highest finish by any Division
III student-athlete. Drake finished the 8-kilometer course with a
time of 25:33, as the Camels finished 16th out of 43 squads.

(Senior - Danvers, Mass.)
Wilson finished seventh at the New England Championships at
Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. on Saturday, helping the Jeffs
secure second place in the process. Wilson completed the
5-kilometer course in 18:24.

Hunter Norte, Trinity
(Junior - Ellington, Conn.)
Norte placed 15th in the Brown race of the Paul Short Invitational
at Lehigh University on Saturday. Norte finished the 8-kilometer
course in 24:40.
Kristina Miner,
Trinity
(Senior - Suffield, Conn.)
Miner finished seventh in the White race of the Paul Shore
Invitational at Lehigh University on Saturday. Miner finished the
6-kilometer course with a time of 23:12.

Peter Kosgei, Hamilton
(Freshman - Kapsabet, Kenya)
Kosgei placed first at the Purple Valley Classic at Williams on
Saturday with a time of 25:07 for the 8-kilometer race. The event
was held at Mt. Greylock High School, site of the 2007 NESCAC Cross
Country Championships which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 27.
Hamilton finished the 10-team race in fifth place.
Elise Tropiano,
Amherst
(Junior - Plainview, N.Y.)
Tropiano helped the Jeffs finish first at the Purple Valley Classic
on Saturday at Williams, as she placed second in the 6-kilometer
race with a time of 22:04, just 12 seconds behind the top finisher.
Amherst finished just two points ahead of second-place Plattsburgh
St.

Hunter Norte, Trinity
(Junior - Ellington, Conn.)
Norte, the 2006 NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer, won the UMass
Dartmouth Invitational, securing the 8-kilometer race with a time
of 24:46. It was the second-straight first place showing for Norte,
as the Bantams won their second consecutive race.
Katy O'Brien,
Tufts
(Senior - Easton, Mass.)
O'Brien, the 2006 NESCAC Most Outstanding Performer, placed second
at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational with a time of 18:11 on the
5-kilometer course. The Jumbos came away with an eighth-place
showing for the race.

(Freshman - Kapsabet, Kenya)
Kosgei started off the 2007 campaign strong as he finished first at
the Rochester Inst. of Technology Invitational on Saturday,
crossing the finish line of the 8-kilometer race 24 seconds ahead
of his competition with a time of 25:37. Hamilton placed third at
the four-team meet.
Megan McClelland,
Bates
(First Year - Keene Valley, N.Y.)
In her first-ever cross country race, McClelland paced the Bobcats
with a time of 21:10 and a second-place showing at the University
of New England Invitational on Saturday. Bates finished first among
the nine teams competing, as seven Bobcats finished in the top 12.
