HADLEY, Mass. All four sites hosting NESCAC championship action this weekend will feature the ability to follow live game action via the Internet. Fans unable to make it to Trinity, Tufts, Wesleyan or Williams can still follow their favorite team thanks to webcasts provided by each of the four institutions.
HADLEY, Mass. Williams College, the two-time defending NESCAC Womens Soccer Champions, will look to become the first team to win three consecutive conference crowns this weekend when the Ephs host the 2009 NESCAC Womens Soccer Championship at Cole Field in Williamstown, Mass. Saturdays first semifinal will feature top-seeded Williams against fourth-seeded Tufts at 11:00 a.m., followed by a rematch of last years second semifinal with third-seeded Middlebury taking on second-seeded Amherst at 1:30 p.m.
HADLEY, Mass. Senior midfielder Meg Murphy (Springfield, Mass.) of Amherst earned NESCAC Player of the Week honors for Nov. 2, 2009. Murphy scored both Jeff goals - including the game-winner during overtime on a free kick - in a 2-1 victory against Wesleyan in the quarterfinals of the 2009 NESCAC Womens Soccer Championship. Murphy now has five goals and six assists while starting all 15 games so far this season for Amherst.
November 1, 2009 Williams Posts 4-0 Win Over Colby in Women's Soccer First Round
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. Williams womens soccer (15-0-0, 11-0-0) advanced to the semifinals of the 2009 NESCAC Championship with a 4-0 defeat of the visiting Colby Mules in opening round action this afternoon. The two-time defending conference champions will host the remainder of the tournament next weekend, with the two semi-final match ups on Saturday and the championship game on Sunday.
November 1, 2009 Murphy's Two Goals Propel Amherst Past Wesleyan in Women's Soccer First Round
AMHERST, Mass. The second-seeded Amherst College womens soccer team advanced past No. 7 Wesleyan University this afternoon in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2009 NESCAC Championship with a 2-1 overtime win at home. The Lord Jeffs saw senior co-captain Meg Murphy (Springfield, Mass.) score a pair of beautiful goals in the win, including the game-winner in the second minute of overtime.
