Bowdoin's Watson Arena Garners LEED Certification
BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Sidney J. Watson Arena, dedicated January 18, 2009, has become the first newly constructed ice arena in the United States to earn coveted LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The USGBC certified the ice arena's LEED status July 16, 2009. LEED is a voluntary, consensus-based rating system for high-performance sustainable buildings that provides a measurable standard for building owners and occupants.

Williams Selects O'Neil as Women's Ice Hockey Head Coach
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. Williams College athletic director Harry Sheehy announced on Thursday that Marissa ONeil, formerly an assistant coach for national champion Amherst College, has been named the head coach of the womens ice hockey program. ONeil replaces Shannon Bryant, who resigned. Bryant spent three years at Williams and compiled a record of 21-46-7.

McKenna of Wesleyan Helps Guide Team USA to 2009 IIHF Women's World Championship
HAMEENLINNA, Finland The U.S. Women's National Team made history by successfully defending its world title with a 4-1 victory over Canada on Sunday at the 2009 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Women's Championship. Wesleyan women's ice hockey head coach Jodi McKenna, serving as one of two assistants at this year's tournament, helped the United States complete the event with a 4-0-0-1 record.

Amherst's Plumer Named AHCA Coach of the Year
GLOUCESTER, Mass. - Jim Plumer, who led Amherst College to the school's first Womens NCAA Division III Ice Hockey Championship, has been voted by his peers as the Division III Womens Ice Hockey Coach of the Year for the 2008-2009 season. The Jeffs went 24-5-0, defeating the three schools who had won all seven previous NCAA Division III Ice Hockey titles en route to this year's honors.

HADLEY, Mass. - Amherst College captured its first national title on Saturday with a 4-3 overtime victory against Elmira in the championship game of the 2009 NCAA Womens Ice Hockey Tournament. Kate Dennett scored the championship-clinching goal at 12:22 in overtime to lift the Jeffs to victory. At 24-5-0, Amherst finished the year with its best record in program history.
