Bloom, Middlebury (Sophomore, Goaltender - Highland Park, Ill.) Bloom stopped 73 of the 78 shots she faced, a .936 save percentage, as she helped the Panthers win the 2009 NESCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Championship over the weekend. After turning aside 21 shots in a 4-2 win over Colby on Saturday during the semifinals, Bloom racked up 52 saves, including 21 in the second period, in a 4-3 overtime win at Amherst on Sunday for the 2009 title. Middlebury has now won five conference championships. |

Mellen, Connecticut College (Senior, Goaltender - Joliet, Ill.) Mellen turned aside 53-of-54 shots as the Camels upended host Trinity 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2009 NESCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Championship on Saturday. 27 of Mellen’s 53 saves came in the third period alone. The victory not only avenged a pair of regular season losses to the Bantams but also put Connecticut College in the semifinals for the first time in tournament history. Mellen also notched her 1,400th career save in the win. |

Julian, Colby (Senior, Forward - South Windsor, Conn.) Julian had three goals and an assist during a 2-1-0 week for the Mules, tallying both game-winners for Colby. Julian started the week on Tuesday by scoring the decisive goal with 2:55 remaining in a 6-5 win over UMass Boston. On Friday evening, Julian netted a goal and an assist in a 6-4 setback to Trinity. She closed the week with the game-winning goal in overtime to give Colby a 3-2 win over the Bantams and secure a home quarterfinal contest in the process. Julian now has 65 goals and 45 assists for 110 career points. |

Santangelo, Bowdoin (First Year, Goaltender - Laporte, Colo.) Santangelo posted a .949 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average during a 3-0-0 week for the Polar Bears. Tuesday evening against Colby, Santangelo made 13 saves in a 4-1 victory. At Trinity on Friday, Santangelo turned aside 20 shots in a 4-2 win. She closed out the week with a 3-0 shutout of the Bantams on Saturday, making 23 saves. Santangelo has been solid in the final month of the season, holding a 1.66 goals against average and a .926 save percentage as Bowdoin has won its last six outings. |

Iwachiw, Trinity (Junior, Goaltender - New York, N.Y.) Iwachiw combined to make 73 saves in a pair of Bantam wins over Connecticut College last week, as she recorded a .986 save percentage. On Friday evening, Iwachiw turned aside 31 shots in a 3-1 win. She followed on Saturday afternoon with 42 stops in a 4-0 victory, her third shutout of the season. Iwachiw is 10-5-2 in net for the Bantams this year with a 2.10 goals against average and .929 save percentage. |

Davey, Connecticut College (Junior, Forward - Nashua, N.H.) In a pair of important conference road victories for the Camels, Davey contributed three goals and one assist. On Friday at Hamilton, Davey had two goals and an assist in a 4-2 win. She added another goal Saturday afternoon during a 7-3 decision over Wesleyan. Davey now has five goals in her last four games, as Connecticut College has won its last three outings. |

Harrington, Amherst (Senior, Forward - Westford, Mass.) Harrington recorded three goals and two assists during a 2-0-0 week for the Jeffs. On Friday evening Harrington scored a goal and assisted on the eventual game-winner in a 4-3 decision at Bowdoin. She followed on Saturday afternoon with two goals, scoring one while Amherst was shorthanded, and an assist in a 7-1 win at Colby. The pair of wins moved Amherst to 10-0-0 in NESCAC play this season, as the Jeffs are 35-0-7 against conference opponents in their last 42 outings. |

Shine, Hamilton (Junior, Goaltender - Duxbury, Mass.) Shine had a stellar week for the Continentals, posting a 0.95 goals against average and a .966 save percentage over three games and going 1-0-2. On Tuesday at Buffalo St., Shine needed only 19 saves to record a shutout, her first of the season and second of her career, in a 4-0 victory. At Colby on Saturday, Shine made 32 saves in a 2-2 tie. She closed out the week on Sunday by stopping 33 shots in a 1-1 draw at Bowdoin. |

Vitt, Middlebury (Senior, Forward - Kenilworth, Ill.) Vitt had six points with two goals and four assists over a pair of road victories for the Panthers last week. On Friday at Colby, Vitt scored the eventual game-winner in a 2-1 decision over the Mules. She collected a goal and four assists during Saturday’s 8-1 win at Bowdoin. Vitt currently leads the NESCAC in assists with 12 through 10 games. |

Roloff, Trinity (Sophomore, Forward - West Seneca, N.Y.) Roloff netted three goals and seven assists for 10 points during the Bantams’ 3-0-1 week which included the Codfish Bowl title on Tuesday. Roloff earned All-Tournament Team honors at the Codfish Bowl, scoring a goal and adding five assists over the two wins. In a weekend series with Utica, Roloff had two goals and two assists, including the tie-breaking tally on Saturday with 23 seconds remaining in overtime for a 4-3 Bantam win. |

Payne was named Tournament MVP at the St. Michael’s Holiday Tournament over the weekend, allowing no goals and making 41 saves during a pair of Colby victories. On Friday against Nichols, Payne turned aside 25 shots, including 12 in the final frame, to earn her first collegiate shutout and give the Mules a 4-0 win. Saturday against host St. Michaels, Payne made 16 saves in the first two periods during a 6-1 victory. |

Komarek, Trinity (Sophomore, Defender - Plymouth, Minn.) Komarek collected three assists while anchoring a Bantam defense that allowed only three goals during a weekend sweep over Hamilton. On Friday evening against the Continentals, Komarek assisted on the game-winning goal with 19 seconds remaining in the contest for a 2-1 win. She picked up two more helpers on Saturday, including an assist on the decisive goal during the final frame for a 3-2 victory. |

On Saturday at home, Elek stopped 25 shots in a 3-0 shutout victory. She followed on Sunday at Trinity with 27 saves during a 3-1 win over the Bantams. On the weekend, Elek posted a .981 save percentage. |

Bloom made 40 saves in a 2-1 win over Elmira on Friday evening, then turned aside 36 shots in a 2-2 tie with Plattsburgh St. on Saturday. |

Melberg, Middlebury (First Year, Forward - Woody Creek, Colo.) In her first appearance in a Panthers’ sweater, Melberg tallied two goals and added an assist in Middlebury’s 5-1 victory over Williams on Saturday. Melberg opened the season for the Panthers with a shorthanded goal midway through the first period, followed by a power-play score in the early moments of the second. Her assist came while Middlebury was shorthanded midway through the second. |
