July 22, 2009 Cousens Gymnasium at Tufts Undergoes Major Renovations
MEDFORD, Mass. - At the height of the Great Depression, Cousens Gymnasium opened to great fanfare on February 9, 1932, when the mens basketball team gritted out a 2824 overtime victory against Brown University in front of 1,600 spectators. Certainly this plant is second to none in New England, the Tufts Weekly crowed about the new physical education building.
NEW LONDON, Conn. - Brian Wilson, associate head coach at the College of the Holy Cross, has been named womens basketball head coach at Connecticut College. Wilson, a 2000 graduate of the University of Virginia, spent six years with the Crusader program in the Patriot League, handling the critical role of recruiting coordinator for the past five seasons.
HADLEY, Mass. Hamilton College will join the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) as a full-playing member effective with the start of the 2011-12 academic year, it was announced today by Barry Mills, President of Bowdoin College and chair of the NESCAC presidents, and Andrea Savage, Executive Director of the NESCAC.

HADLEY, Mass. - Amherst College dropped its final two games of the season over the last weekend of the 2009 NCAA Womens Basketball Tournament. The Jeffs fell to Washington-St. Louis on Friday in the semifinals 65-49, then suffered a 82-74 setback to TCNJ in the third place game on Saturday morning. Although the Jeffs lost their final two games, the 29-4 record amassed this season was the best in program history.
HOLLAND, Mich. The Amherst College womens basketball team closed out the best season in program history this afternoon with a hard-fought 82-74 loss to The College of New Jersey in the 2009 NCAA Tournament Consolation Game. Despite dropping to 0-2 this weekend, Amherst set program marks in numerous categories this season.
