Daigneault of Amherst Named WBCA All-American
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and State Farm announced the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III State Farm Coaches’ All-America Basketball Team on Thursday evening. Amherst sophomore Jaci Daigneault (Guilford, Conn.) earned All-America honors, as she was the only NESCAC student-athlete selected to the team.
The 10-member team was selected by an online vote of the selection committee. The committee is comprised of one representative from each of the eight geographical regions and a chairperson.
Daigneault also earned NESCAC All-Conference First Team recognition this season. Pacing the Jeffs with 13.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, Daigneault has peaked at the right time of the season, averaging 17.0 points and 9.1 rebounds while helping her team reach this weekend's NCAA semifinals for the first time in program history. The hot hand has translated into a hot shooting percentage on the stat sheet, as she currently boasts a field goal percentage of 59.1-percent.
