February 27, 2006
Marisa Berne/Justine Pouravelis, Bowdoin
(Sophomore, Guard - Falmouth, Maine/Senior, Forward, Old Orchard Beach, Maine)
Berne and Pouravelis combined stellar performances to give Bowdoin its sixth NESCAC Women’s Basketball Championship. In Saturday’s semifinal against Wesleyan, Berne scored 12 points while Pouravelis collected eight points, grabbed 12 rebounds and dished out four assists. During Sunday’s championship match at Bates, Berne keyed the decisive second half run with a game-high 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Pouravelis had 10 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Meghan O'Malley, Williams
(Junior, Forward - Topsfield, Mass.)
O’Malley posted a double-double in the Ephs’ 55-39 victory over Amherst, propelling Wil-liams into the semifinals of the NESCAC tournament for the fifth consecutive year. O’Malley scored 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting and 7-for-8 from the free throw line, along with grab-bing 10 rebounds. She also added in two steals and one assist during 32 minutes of action on Saturday.

Meg Coffin, Bates
(Junior, Center - Westford, Mass.)
Coffin posted her 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season in victories over NESCAC foes Amherst and Trinity. She grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds to match 18 points against Amherst on Friday, then had 19 points and 11 rebounds in only 24 minutes of action on Saturday against Trinity. On the week, Coffin was 16-for-23 (69.6%) from the field while averaging 18.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

Sarah Cox, Trinity
(Junior, Forward - Norwell, Mass.)
Cox averaged 20.3 points and 7.3 rebounds through 118 minutes worth of work, an average of 39.3 minutes per game. She started the week with 19 points and seven boards against Western Connecticut State on Tuesday, followed by posting 18 points, six rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks against Middlebury Friday evening. In a narrow loss to Williams on Saturday, Cox poured in 24 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had two blocks. She led her teammates in each game in points and rebounding, going 21-for-49 from the floor (42.9%) and 18-for-21 from the free throw line (85.7%).

Jill Anelauskas, Bowdoin
(Freshman, Forward - Medfield, Mass.)
Anelauskas averaged 21 points and five rebounds per game off the bench for Bowdoin, which extended the nation’s longest home-court winning streak to 64 with victories over Amherst and Trinity over the weekend. Friday against Amherst, Anelauskas led all scores with 17 points on 8-for-16 shooting through 20 minutes of work. She followed that performance with a team-best 25 points and eight rebounds on 9-for-12 shooting (75.0%) in Saturday’s win over Trinity. Over the two games, Anelauskas was 17-of-28 (60.7%).

Meghan O'Malley/Maggie Miller, Williams
(Junior, Forward - Topsfield, Mass./Wellesley, Mass.)
The junior forwards led the Ephs to a 2-0 week in NESCAC action. The pair combined for 50 points on 20-for-32 shooting (62.5%) from the floor and had 19 rebounds in a 69-48 victory over Bates on Saturday. O'Malley averaged 22 points (17-for-28) and 7.5 rebounds for the week, while Miller garnered 19.5 points (13-for-26), 8.5 rebounds and two blocks. O'Malley posted a double-double against the Bobcats with 29 points and 10 rebounds Saturday. Miller poured in 16 points Friday against Tufts and led her squad on the glass with eight rebounds.

Hannah Stubbs, Wesleyan
(Senior, Forward - Arlington, Va.)
Stubbs helped Wesleyan to a 2-0 start in NESCAC play and a 3-0 week overall. Against NESCAC foes, Stubbs averaged 20 points and 9.5 rebounds per game in victories over Williams on Friday and Middlebury on Saturday. She was 8-for-12 from the floor in both games (66.7%) with 10 rebounds against Williams and nine against Middlebury. Her basket 22 seconds into overtime against the Ephs Friday evening gave the Cardinals the lead for good. Earlier in the week at Albertus Magnus, Stubbs scored a team high 12 points during only 24 minutes of work, grabbing seven boards.

Eileen Flaherty, Bowdoin
(Junior, Forward - Fairfield, Conn.)
Flaherty averaged 24 points and nine rebounds in a pair of key regional victories over Maine-Farmington and Emmanuel last week. She scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed eight boards against Maine-Farmington before leading all scores with 28 points and 10 rebounds against Emmanuel. For the week, Flaherty went 18-for-33 (54.5%) from the floor.

Jackie Powers, Bates
(Freshman, Guard - Andover, Mass.)
Powers earned Tournament MVP honors at the Holiday Inn-Naismith Classic over New Year's weekend at Springfield College. In two victories for the Bobcats over Springfield and Trinity (Texas), Powers averaged 18.5 points, 2.0 assists and 2.5 steals per game, while shooting 50 percent (14-for-28) from the floor. On Sunday against Springfield, Powers went 9-for-14 (64.3%), scoring 19 points through 26 minutes of work.

Hannah Stubbs, Wesleyan
(Senior, Forward - Arlington, Va.)
Stubbs had an impressive week on the hardwood, averaging 17.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in a 2-0 week for the Cardinals. On Tuesday, Stubbs scored 11 points and pulled down 18 rebounds, adding in two assists, two steals and a block in an overtime win over Coast Guard. Friday evening she scored 24 points, grabbed eight rebounds, four steals, an assist and a block in a 10-point victory at nationally-ranked Springfield. Stubbs went 12-for-20 from the floor through the two contests (60.0%), and added in 11 free throws.

Meg Coffin, Bates
(Junior, Center - Westford, Mass.)
After missing the first three games of the season, Coffin's return to the hardwood this week spurred the Bobcats to a 3-0 week. She averaged 18.3 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots and 1.7 steals while shooting an impressive 76.7 percent from the floor. Against Husson on Wednesday, Coffin posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, adding in five assists, five blocks, and five steals. She also posted a double-double against Worcester State on Saturday in the Williams Tournament, pouring in 21 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Coffin capped off the week with 17 points and seven rebounds against host Williams on Sunday, earning All-Tournament Team honors in the process.

Colleen Hession, Williams
(Senior, Guard - Northampton, Mass.)
Hession averaged 17.5 points per game in a 2-0 week for Williams. On Tuesday in a 65-59 victory against Springfield, Hession scored a game-high 24 points, in the process becoming only the eighth woman at Williams to accumulate 1,000 points in a career. She followed up the feat with 11 points, six assists, five rebounds and three steals in a 64-50 win over Union on Sunday.

Katie Fisher, Middlebury
(Sophomore, Guard - Oakland, Calif.)
Fisher averaged 19.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game through two outings to capture Most Valuable Player honors at the Skidmore Tournament over the weekend. On Sunday against Rhode Island College, Fisher collected 23 points, going 4-for-6 from three point range in an 80-57 victory. On the weekend, Fisher shot .593 from the floor and .545 from behind the arc, while dishing out six assists.
