Men's Soccer Weekly Release #10
HADLEY, Mass. Of the four NESCAC teams participating in the 2009 NCAA Mens Soccer Tournament last week, two teams - Wesleyan and Williams - were able to advance to the upcoming sectional round. The Ephs posted back-to-back shutouts this past weekend at Rensselaer, while the Cardinals needed penalty kicks on Sunday afternoon to earn a spot in the sectional semifinals for the first time ever.

York Posts 2-0 Decision Over Amherst In NCAA Men's Soccer Second Round
YORK, Pa. - The Amherst College men's soccer team's bid to make a second straight NCAA semifinal appearance came to a close today, with the Lord Jeffs falling to York College (Pa.) 2-0 in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament. Today's loss marks the second time in the last three seasons that the Spartans have closed the door on an Amherst post-season run.

Wesleyan Ties WNEC 1-1, Advances On Penalty Kicks 5-4
MIDDLETOWN, Conn. Wesleyan University (12-1-5) advanced to the NCAA Sectional round for the first time in program history, getting past visiting Western New England College (16-5-4), 5-4 on penalty kicks, after the teams played to a 1-1 tie after 110 minutes of action. Wesleyan moves on to face the University of Rochester (13-1-3) in a sectional semifinal at Messiah College in Gratham, Pa. next weekend while Messiah takes on John Hopkins in the other sectional matchup.

Williams Slips Past Rensselaer 1-0 in NCAA Men's Soccer Second Round
TROY, N.Y. Junior forward Charles Romero (Mansfield, Mass.) scored by the skin of his boot midway through the first half and the Williams mens soccer team held on for a 1-0 victory over Rensselaer, in NCAA Tournament Second Round play at Renwyck Field. With the win, the Ephs improve to 16-2-1 overall and advance to the field of 32 next week. The Engineers conclude their season with a 14-3-2 mark, which included a 5-1-1 Liberty League record.

Amherst Posts 4-0 Win Against Salem St. in NCAA Men's Soccer First Round
YORK, Pa. The Amherst College mens soccer team scored three second-half goals during a 4-0 win over Salem State College in the opening round of the 2009 NCAA Championship. The Lord Jeffs (12-3-1) will take on regional host York College Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
