Zack Toth, Middlebury

Toth had an impressive weekend for Middlebury, making 15 saves while allowing no goals in 200 minutes of work. Toth made nine saves against Amherst on Saturday in a 1-0 win to put the Panthers into the championship match against Williams, followed on Sunday with six more saves against the Ephs. He now has 14 career shut-outs in two years as a starter.

Jeff Castiglione, Williams
(Senior, Goalkeeper - West Hartford, Conn.)
Castiglione was between the posts for the Ephs for nearly 189 minutes over two games last week-end, failing to surrender a goal. Castiglione posted three stops in regulation and overtime against Middlebury during Sunday’s championship match for his fifth shutout of the season, making three saves in the penalty kick round to give Williams the 2006 NESCAC Men’s Soccer Championship.

Jeff Grover, Amherst
(Sophomore, Goalkeeper - Framingham, Mass.)
While Grover did not start on Sunday against Tufts, he came into a 2-2 situation late in the first half to stop four shots and allow one goal in a 3-3 tie. During the penalty kick session to determine which team would advance to the semifinals, Grover made three crucial saves as Amherst edged Tufts 3-2.

Rob Munro, Bates
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Walpole, Mass.)
Munro played spectacularly on Sunday during Bates’ 1-0 double-overtime victory at Wesleyan. He made 10 saves through 103 minutes of work, with five of the saves coming from point-blank range. For the week, Munro was 2-0-1 in net with two shutouts and two goals allowed.

Daniel Kiernan, Colby
(Senior, Defender - Brookline, Mass.)
Kiernan helped his team to two shutout victories last week while having a hand in both game-winners for the Mules. Kiernan’s direct kick goal kept Colby’s NESCAC playoff hopes alive in a 2-0 win over Connecticut College on Saturday. Earlier in the week, Kiernan had an assist on a free kick to lift the Mules to a 2-0 win against Maine Farmington.

Spencer Vinal, Trinity
(Junior, Forward - Wethrsfield, Conn.)
Vinal scored twice, including the game-winning goal, in the Bantam’s 3-1 victory over Tufts on Saturday. The win snapped Trinity’s 18-game winless streak in NESCAC play.

Jake Duker, Amherst
(Sophomore, Forward - Newton, Mass.)
Duker netted five goals over two NESCAC victories last week, scoring the game-winning goal in each outing. On Wednesday against Connecticut College, Duker provided all of the offense for the Jeffs with a hat trick en route to a 3-1 Amherst win. Against Middlebury on Saturday, Duker tallied two more times as part of another 3-1 victory. He leads Amherst in points this season with 7-3-17.

Nathan Lovitz, Bowdoin
(Junior, Goalkeeper - Fairfield, Maine)
Lovitz was stellar in goal for the Polar Bears during a pair of shutouts over the weekend against NESCAC foes Middlebury and Amherst. He made five saves in a 1-0 win over the Jeffs on Saturday before posting eight more stops during a 2-0 victory over the Panthers on Sunday. Lovitz, who has four shutouts this season, has not allowed a goal in his last 216:17 in net.

Ithai Schori, Bates
(Senior, Forward - New York, N.Y.)
Schori had a hand in both of Bates’ overtime victories last week. The winger scored the game-winner just 19 seconds into overtime for a 2-1 win over Maine-Farmington on Wednesday. On Saturday afternoon, Schori delivered the ball to Greg Nelson in the box to give the Bobcats’ a 1-0 double-overtime victory over NESCAC foe Connecticut College.

Dana Leary, Williams
(Senior, Defender - Washington, D.C.)
Leary was instrumental in a 2-0 week for the Ephs, playing all 180 minutes in the back for Williams as part of a defense that only allowed six shots on net and one goal. Leary helped Williams earn a 3-0 victory at NESCAC foe Connecticut College on Saturday, followed by a 5-1 win over Wheaton on Sunday afternoon.

Casey Ftorek, Middlebury
(Sophomore, Forward - Wolfeboro, N.H.)
Ftorek began his career on Saturday at Middlebury with a bang, netting three goals in the Panthers’ 4-0 season-opening victory at NESCAC foe Connecticut College. A transfer from Union, Ftorek scored just five minutes into the contest, added a second tally in the 17th minute and finished the day with the game’s final goal in the 74th minute.
