October 11, 2009 Amherst Wins NESCAC Women's Golf Tournament
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. Amherst College claimed the 2009 NESCAC Women's Golf Tournament title at the Waubeeka Golf Links in Williamstown, Mass. The NESCAC Women's Golf Tournament is a one-day event held in conjunction with the Williams Fall Classic. It is the first tournament title for Amherst, as Middlebury took last year's tournament.
HADLEY, Mass. Spurred by an even-par 142 performance this past weekend at the NESCAC Fall Qualifier, Hamilton senior Phil Preiss (Lake Forest, Ill.) has been named the 2009 NESCAC Player of the Year. Preiss becomes the first Continental player to earn the conferences top honor since 2003 when Brian Williams claimed back-to-back Player of the Year awards.
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. Williams College put together two steady rounds of golf and overcame Hamilton on day two to win the NESCAC Golf Fall Qualifier on Sunday evening at Waubeeka Golf Links. The win guarantees the Ephs the right to host the spring championship event, which will take place on April 24-25, 2010. Joining Williams and Hamilton at the event will be familiar foes Trinity and Middlebury, as the Bantams and the Panthers rounded out the top four teams at the event.
October 3, 2009 Play Suspended Due to Darkness on Day One at Golf Qualifier
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Day one of the NESCAC Golf Fall Qualifier at Waubeeka Golf Links was suspended due to darkness on Saturday. The first two waves were able to complete the first round, however the final wave consisting of Trinity, Tufts, Wesleyan and Williams was unable to complete its round. Play will resume on Sunday, Oct. 4 at Waubeeka at 9:30 a.m. on the 17th hole.
HADLEY, Mass. Middlebury College, the winner of two of the last three NESCAC Golf crowns, will begin its pursuit of a third conference title in the last four years this weekend when the Panthers journey to Williamstown, Mass. for the NESCAC Golf Championship Qualifier. The two-day, 36-hole qualifying event will be hosted by Williams College at the Waubeeka Golf Links and will showcase all 10 conference teams. The first group will tee off on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 11:00 a.m.
