Middlebury Tied for 35th After Day One at NCAA Men's Golf Championship

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - Middlebury shot a 329 on day one at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The Panthers are tied 35th place after day one, as they prepare for day two of the tourney on Thursday. After the first round of competition, Methodist University leads the 36-team field with a score of 279 (-9) on the Ryder Course.

The Panthers' Jimmy Levins led the team on the first day of competition, shooting an eight-over-par 80 with a pair of birdies. Michael McCmormick was next with an 81, followed by Brian Cady and Ben Kunofsky, who each shot an 84. Cady had a pair of birdies on the day, while Kunofsky eagled the par 5 seventh hole. Ashley Miller rounded out the team with a 90.

St. John's University (MN) is in second with an even 288 while Skidmore College and the University of Texas at Tyler are tied for third at 291 (+3).

Tom Cooper (Methodist) and Mitchell Fedorka (La Verne) both shot a 67 (-5) on the first day while St. John's Joey Palingo is in third at 68 (-4).

Round two will begin on Thursday with the first groups teeing off both the Ryder and Dye courses at 7:00 am.
